Profile
Adam is a Senior Partner of Onsagers and a highly experienced European Patent Attorney with an academic background in engineering. His professional experience includes over 20 years in the Intellectual Property industry, becoming expert in all aspects of European, UK and international patent filing, prosecution and analysis/advice. Over the last decade this has included a particular focus on EPO Opposition and Appeal proceedings and advice work concerning related disputes. Adam has worked as a European and UK patent attorney for multinational corporations and SMBs across a vast range of industries in the Nordics and internationally. Adam primarily sits in the mechanics patent group of Onsagers, but he also joins in activities of the electronics/physics group and chemistry group so that Onsagers clients in those areas can also make use of his expertise.
As well as patent work Adam also has a long history as an Intellectual Property consultant for his clients. That includes generating and advising on the overall IP strategy for companies ranging in size from SMBs with a handful of employees up to global businesses with extensive portfolios of Intellectual Property Rights. He is well placed to guide the growth and success of his clients in relation to all aspects of innovation and Intellectual Property. Adam’s background also includes significant work with TTO clients including the establishment and growth of university spin-out companies. Starting from a broad education at the University of Cambridge; covering general engineering, mechanical engineering and engineering of materials amongst other subjects; Adam has since gained experience of Intellectual Property matters in a wide range of technical fields, including: heat pump/refrigeration systems, renewable energy, oil and gas, medical devices with particular expertise in cardiac devices, aerospace, industrial warehousing/automated storage systems, fire and security systems for buildings and maritime use, data security, and innovations implemented by AI/machine learning.
Alongside his European Patent Attorney qualification Adam is also entitled to act as a representative before the new European Unified Patent Court. He can therefore aid clients in relation to infringement and invalidity proceedings for European patents falling under the jurisdiction of the UPC as well as handling any related EPO Opposition and Appeal work.
Outside of the office Adam has an enthusiasm for nature and outdoor pursuits. At his home in rural Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, he is fortunate enough to have land set aside for an ongoing re-wilding/wildlife garden project. He also enjoys hiking and hill walking. Adam’s passion for the natural world sits in slight tension with an enjoyment of motorsport and automobiles in general, with an interest in both the engineering/technical side as well as the human side of the sport.
Adam has worked in Onsagers since 2023.
